NYC Oculus
NYC Oculus
The Oculus is a transportation hub located within the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It serves as a major commuter hub, connecting multiple subway lines, the PATH train, and buses.
The Oculus was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and features a striking, wing-shaped design with a large glass roof, providing natural light to the interior. The building’s name, Oculus, refers to the Latin word for “eye,” symbolizing its role as a gateway to the World Trade Center. I took a moment to appreciate the stunning architecture and design.
The picture was photographed from the observation deck of One World Trade Center, at a height of almost 400 meters.

I am the CEO of the startup takatoa, which I founded in spring 2021. The focus of our work is the application of artificial intelligence methods to research questions in the field of space- and time-referenced data structures using quantum computing. takatoa develop concepts, strategies and solutions for economic, scientific and political areas by researching, analyzing and advancing existing structures and potential developments.
In the context of our work, we sometimes take photos that always capture a brief glimpse of our surroundings. The pictures are taken with a smartphone camera from freely accessible locations and without post-processing. Selecting the subject is the key point for the respective shot.
