Butterflies
Butterflies
It is through a singular reading of our contemporary society that I mark a contemplative pause on the hidden beauty of our daily lives. A beauty through intimate portraits. The approach is cold, the isometric angles neutralize any photographic voyeurism. The image is not just a snap-shot, it takes its substance from the grain before release . My goal is to offer a walk through the stigmata of life, the patina and the traces, elements that reveal and forge the beings. I first propose to my model a theme with visual examples. This collaborative preparation allows a contextualized framework for the shooting. The model is free to restore with more spontaneity the depths of the intimate, the troubled sides of the being. I capture these moments with my PhaseOne digital camera.
There is in these nudes something of an animal, free of any social bias. Beauty is born from gesture, memories, flesh turned into art material. Such as a butterfly, the woman awakes through those portraits.
