The roof of Casa Mila (La Pedrera)
The roof of Casa Mila (La Pedrera)
It is full of Gaudi sculptures, with great artistic strength.
These are stairwells, ventilation towers and chimneys, which stand as guardian warriors of La Pedrera.
To soften the volumes of the stairwells, Gaudí uses curved shapes.
The stairwells, some covered with trencadís stone, marble or ceramic, recycled and monochrome, the others are plastered with lime and plaster mortar. Ventilation towers help renew the air in the attic. Chimneys (smoke vents). There is a group of fireplaces covered with pieces of cava bottles.
Author
I live in Igualada (Barcelona) and work as an independent photographic artist.
My work focuses on architecture and on photography's ability to reinterpret built spaces through light, shadow and geometry.
I work primarily in black and white, seeking to simplify reality in order to emphasize form, volume, lines, rhythm and structure. I am particularly drawn to minimalist compositions, where architecture becomes more than a building and transforms into a visual expression of balance, tension and abstraction.
Each image is a personal interpretation of urban space, shaped by observation and by the relationship between light and form.
