The leftovers: abandoned objects in the streets of Vienna
The leftovers: abandoned objects in the streets of Vienna
When I walk in the street, abandoned objects often catch my eye, as the 6 objects of this series taken in Vienna, Austria, in 2023. I think they exude some melancholy and poetry.
More than the French expression "nature morte" (« dead nature »), the Anglo-Saxon term "still life" expresses much more what I feel when I see "representations of inert objects belonging to the kingdom of nature or products of human industry", as the Beaux Art de Bordeaux museum defines this genre.
For me, there's something very alive and intriguing about these objects. They are traces of past moments full of mystery and possibilities.
Author
I'm a 29-year-old French amateur photographer living in Paris, passionate about street photography. I like to capture the beauty of the geometry of urban shapes and the poetry of the interactions of people with each other and with their environment; the fresh look that photography allows us to take on everyday places that at first sight seem banal.
