Metamorphosis of the Universe
Metamorphosis of the Universe
I am an astronomy, landscape and nocturnal cityscape photographer. My photographs celebrate the wonder that the night hours can offer, creating fascination in the viewer in discovering how much light there is in the darkness. Through my work I explore darkness, discovering more, pushing the boundaries of mystery and darkness.
A recurring theme is light pollution, which if present gives captivating urban scenarios, but if it is absent it gives astral visions. Focusing on both the intimate and the grand, my goal is to evoke a sense of awe and reflection in viewers. My photos seek to provide an escape, helping people recapture their dreamscapes and providing a unique and powerful perspective on the everyday. I explore our relationship with the universe, mysterious forces and even the fear of darkness itself: Nyctophobia. I explore the clash between light and dark, exposing the juxtaposition between the light pollution emitted by the city skyscraper and the stillness of the night.
Author
Carlotta Roda, born in 1999, is a photographer whose work combines aesthetic research and narrative sensitivity. After graduating from high school, she decided to study at the IED in Milan and graduated in photography. With the camera she feels the need to search for meanings beyond the evidence and uses photography to evoke imaginary realities, as an infinite universe of research. Her intent is to place man in front of himself to ask himself questions about his own existence. The creation of astronomical shots and night-time urban scenarios allows this reflection: the viewer sees on one hand the greatness that the Universe shows us and on the other notes the smallness of our daily life in the buildings, our home.
