Rome lives through its images in a costant process of ovverride and resistance that represent its soul. Today's stronger disruptive force is represented by mass tourism and progressive commercialisation of its spaces.. Few conditions are resilient to this process of degradation. Avery sunday, from the early morning to noon, a small part of the city lives by its own as an independent universe made of curtains, sheds, items, shades, colors and people. The Portaportese Market redraws itself weekly as a common environment able to welcome transversally inhabitants, tourists, etc... Portraying its essence does not mean only to look at its commercial (slightly folkloristic) function, it means to give importance to its image as one of those who stand in the bigger collage of the city. It means to underline its role as cultural-spatial subject able to contrast the homologation process. In other words it represent the city resilience to those dirsuptive forces of the contemporary urban context.
