Parco Dora, Empathy in Architecture.
Parco Dora, Empathy in Architecture.
Harry Mallgrave, a pioneer in neuroscience and architecture, explores the vital role of human-occupied spaces in "The Empathy of Spaces." He posits that every architectural creation elicits specific neurological and emotional responses, shaping human interactions with it.
Mallgrave argues that artists and architects should focus not just on the beauty, stability, and form of their works but also on their impact beyond the visual, touching on cultural, emotional, and social aspects.
This perspective is applied in our project on Parco Dora. I believe the park's design prioritizes aesthetics over social considerations, resulting in a space that seems unlivable and disconnected from public empathy. This detachment contradicts Mallgrave's view that empathy is a fundamental aspect of architectural design.
