Urban Curves
Urban Curves
“For reasons hidden in the foundations of the brain’s architecture, a curve, because it suggests warmth and well-being and harmony, touches a more profound part of the psyche than a parallelogram.”
And talking about architecture, curves are more beautiful and appealing to people than straight lines because they affect our emotions. They are more welcoming and signal a lack of threat. They make us feel safe. Curvatures point to nature whereas strict right angles come in contrast with it.
This is a collection of my favourite photos taken in the German cities of Frankfurt, Hannover and Bremerhaven.
Author
Anna Wacker is a Greek-Australian photographer based in Hamburg, Germany. Her award-winning work has evolved from capturing the built world to uncovering the "soul within the structure."
Moving beyond simple documentation, Anna reinterprets architecture as a living, breathing landscape. To her, a building is never static; it is a "guardian," a "creature," or a "universal mystery" waiting to be revealed. She seeks the intersection of the tangible and the imaginative - an ongoing exploration that continues to fuel her artistic evolution.
