C'est Devenu Si Calme

In early 2022 I went to spend two months in my grandparents tiny rural village in the North of France. I always visit them as often as I can and the village and the life surrounding it has a special place in my heart. I decided that I wanted to document their daily life as they are now getting older and life has become harder for them. They have always been poor but mangaged to get by somehow, today they are retired and are living in a big house they can't sell and with my papi having lost his leg to diabetes not long ago a new lifestyle has been difficult to adjust to. They want to move, as the village is dying and everything is more or less closed now. Each time I visit them a new boulangerie or boutique has closed. The village only has around 600 people with 30-50 kilometers to any bigger city. So this project is about the economic state of France, family love, vulnerability, isolation, ageing and rural life as older people.
