FIRE DRAGON
FIRE DRAGON
The summer of 2022 was the worst year for forest fires in Spain in the last 30 years. In June we began to report graphically on the Sierra de la Culebra forest fire in Zamora, where the fire devoured about 35.000 ha and from there it turned unstoppable. The conditions and the extreme risk from forest fires made it very difficult for the firefighting services to control and put out the fire. At that time, people began to talk about "Fires beyond their extinction capacity" "Sixth generation fires"
Throughout my professional career it has always been possible to save rural areas. However, in Valdeorras, the fire burned at least 70 houses and forced the eviction of about 500 residents, something unthinkable until now.
In A Cañiza (Pontevedra) I was able to capture the image that best represents for me what the fight against fire has been like by the firefighting services this summer.

I’ve been dedicating myself to the image all my life, I’m lucky to be able to say that I work in what I like.
I consider myself a focused, dynamic, active, sociable, observant, organized and methodical person, where my biggest dream has always been sleeping. That is precisely where many ideas come from.
Although I know the norm perfectly as far as image is concerned, sometimes I like to break the rules and do different things. Being square is not incompatible with innovating.
My impatience kills me and I often fight against it. Waiting was never my goal, but sometimes that is the only way to get the best possible result.
I’m for sure a lover of nature in its purest form, that's where I can observe and capture those moments, as the one depicted, that nature decides to delight us with. It fascinates me.
For me, an image is worth a thousand words and that’s how I express myself. My contribution in this life is graphic.
