The Pursuit of Beauty
The Pursuit of Beauty
When we capture ourselves on camera, we are rarely satisfied with the results of our shots. It is now commonplace for people to make alterations to the image they have captured. We try to make the contours of our faces smaller, our eyes bigger, and our legs longer. Often, the balance of the body is greatly disturbed. The effort to make oneself look beautiful is changing these days. In Japan, the "Generation Z" youth have come to think that "looking beautiful" is something to be ashamed of, and they place whirlpools on their faces. Not showing one's face has become a form of beauty.
