Gdansk Shipyard
Gdansk Shipyard
Gdansk Shipyard - one of the largest Polish shipyards, located in Gdansk. It was established after 1945 in the areas where the German shipyards from XIX century had previously existed. During its activity, the Gdansk Shipyard has built over 1,000 fully equipped vessels of various types. On its premises, three shipyard workers were murdered - victims of the anti-communist protest of December 1970. Almost 10 years later NSZZ "Solidarnosc" (first independent trade union in the communist block) originated from the Gdańsk Shipyard. Thanks to the agreements signed here on August 31, 1980 between the democratic opposition and the communist government after 2 weeks of strikes, spread from here across the entire country. It became the beginning of a ten-million movement that contributed to the fall of communism in Europe, led by Gdansk Shipyard worker Lech Walesa – winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (1983), the first president in post-war Poland elected in the democratic general elections.
Author
I took my first steps in photography in 2007 Due to the fact that I live by the sea, I mainly dealt with the seascape. My life priorities caused a ten-year break in staking pictures. Lockdown made me return to photography in 2020 and I am catching up on a long hiatus. I make my dreams come true: I create underwater stories, transfer viewers to my world through toys, and show architecture seen with my eyes. My photos have been awarded in competitions: Chromatic Awards, Monochrome Photography Awards, TIFA, BIFA, ND Awards, PX3 Awards, FAPA, New York Photogrphy Awards, MonoVision Awards, Annual Photography Awards. In categories: landscape, seascape, cityscape, architecture, conceptual, fineart. My photos have been published: The PX3 Annual Book 2022, Photographize Monochrome Issue 02 November 2022.
