World Apart | Heydar Aliyev Centre | A tribute to Zaha Hadid
A few years ago in Baku, Azerbaijan …
The Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan, designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, is noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles. The center is named after Heydar Aliyev, the first secretary of Soviet Azerbaijan.
In this part of my longtime series „Humility“ the contrast between a little person surrounded by the gigantic architecture stands in the focus of my interests. With its organic shape, its bright, soft structured facade and its timeless look Zaha Hadid designed a stunning masterpiece in architecture, which still is one of the most beautiful buildings I´ve ever seen.
