When Light Pierces Through, It Pulls Us Through The Darkness
In even the darkest of depth, a single beam can begin to pull us back to the light. Light brings life to the surface, its strength piercing the dark. In this series, we visualize light penetrating the depth and darkness, creating a path to return to the surface. This series is a parallel with the struggles of what so many of us feel inside. In periods of darkness we feel broken down, weak, shells of ourselves. When the light creeps back in, we begin to emerge, steadily warming and accepting the light. When we embrace it, our radiance and beauty is on display for all.
These images were shot in a series of cenotes in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Each image was captured in camera, below the surface of the water. The series tells this story of the light breaking through darkness, revealing the beauty being hidden. The locations ranged from a few meters, to over one hundred meters in depth. The models and photographer freedove to capture each image on location and in camera.
