Crossing Rue de Rivoli
Crossing Rue de Rivoli
The photo I'm submitting is a shot i've taken this year in March. It show a young woman crossing the street in Paris, Rue de Rivoli.
As she's alone walking, you can spot a raven looking down.
The immersive effect of the moment combined with the uncanny bird spectator (that speaks to the bird's eyes view shot) create an almost etheral moment of daily urban life.
I like to thing that photography is the art of surrendering moments of nothing into lasting snapshots of beauty.
This photo of a simple urban life scene, seen from above, captures a moment of someone else's life to frame it for the purpose of creating something beautiful.
In addition, the presence of a raven also speaks to a mythological presence of something else watching. The overlooking raven, almost hidden as we are living our life, acts as a reminder that moments are more than what they appear to be.
Author
I'm an amateur photographer based in Paris.
I alternatively use a Leica MP with a 50mm or a FujiXT with a 35mm. I love photos with none or very minimal modifications in colors, contrast, balances. I like "raw" shots : photography as the art of capturing unposed moments of beauty.
I mainly shoot street life scenes of cities around the world. I am currently working on a photo-book called "People in museum" that show various shots I took of people in museums or being tourist somewhere. People are absurd, fun and beautiful all at the same time when they are looking for beauty and experiences in places they've been told to see.
