The puppy

In Cendrawasih Bay, squid fishermen stay for months on rickety wooden platforms a few miles from the coast. The discarded catch attracts whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) who seem to appreciate this unusual delicacy. Whale sharks for local populations are synonymous with good luck and are treated like real pups. Up to 13 sharks were counted all together. Cendrawasih bay, Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
