Fast_Shop
In his Fast_Shop series, the artist draws on his intuitions and sensations about the frenetic and hypnotic impulses caused by online shopping. Joachim Romain navigated on online stores, collecting, classifying, archiving bookmarks, hacking locally the pages to modify the html code of the sites and thus modify their graphic charter as he pleased. Then he took pictures from his computer screen to capture the essence and energy of our delirious consumption rate. He placed his camera on a tripod in front of his computer and shot the pages of these virtual stores in long pauses, taking care, by means of the cursor, to move the image on the screen, thus creating random forms and colors, analogous to this sensation of profusion and speed. Layering, repetitions, fuzziness, aberrations of colors, dead pixels unhinged compositions, multiplications, inks saturations… these are the results of his intentional mutation - unintentional - to express our purchase habits in the virtual world.
